A Beard That Saves Lives: What Drives Jimmy Niggles To Make Change
We all have a drive within, and considering we humans are a curious bunch, it’s always fascinating to know what fuels that drive in others. Beard Season‘s Jimmy Niggles walks us through his motivation to help others.
Even if you don’t know his name, you’ve probably seen his beard. And that’s precisely why Jimmy has grown such a glorious swathe of facial hair – to kickstart a conversation.
After Niggles lost his close friend Wes Bonny to melanoma just three months after his diagnosis, he and his friends began honouring Bonny in a lot of different ways. They told stories about him in remembrance and they staged an annual footy game in his honour. One day though, Niggles and co. decided to turn the tragic loss of Bonny into something to help the greater good.
Their solution? Start a global movement turning beards into life-saving conversation starters; ones which challenge you, your friends and family to book a skin check for melanoma.
Jimmy Niggles – ad man, charity founder, and creator of global change – caught up with Jess Scully – public art curator, policy thinker, festival director and media producer – to chat about what drove him to start his super successful not-for-profit charity Beard Season.
Find out exactly how he made it happen, and what drives him to succeed and create greater social change.
