How To Earn Qantas Points Just By Being Healthy

It can be tough keeping yourself healthy. No matter where you live in the country, there are delicious brunches to be had, beverages to be drunk, and endless television to be streamed. Sometimes, the appeal of the couch is just too strong when it comes to choosing between going for a run or catching up on your favourite show. So, why not find a way to push yourself a little bit – and get rewards? And not just the reward of feeling healthier, either.

If you are a Qantas Frequent Flyer member (or even if you’re not – you can join for free), then pick up your phone that you’re no doubt already holding and download the new Qantas Assure App. It’s a fitness and wellness app that doesn’t judge you for how much or little exercise you do, it doesn’t care about the pizza you ate for dinner, and it will never tell you to do burpees. In fact, all it really cares about is helping you to get moving, and rewarding you along the way. It’s available for both iOS and Android users, and it’s free to download – just hit the button and then put your Qantas Frequent Flyer details in there to get started.

So, what are the advantages of the Qantas Assure App, and how does it all work?

The Qantas Assure App allows you to set your own goals when it comes to fitness. The app judges how much exercise you have done in a day based on the amount of steps you do –  so all you need to do is keep your phone in your pocket (or if you have a smartwatch or wearable device, then bang it on) and it will do the rest for you. If you’re the type of person who likes jogging every day or hitting up the gym, you can set your daily or weekly steps challenge high. If your idea of exercise is the occasional walk, sauntering around the supermarket, or the daily commute to work, you can set your step challenge a little lower.

Daily step challenges can be as low as 2,500 steps – which could earn you 5 points – and as high as 20,000 steps, which could earn you 12 points. Weekly challenges start at 25,000 steps for 55 points, and go all the way up to 150,000 steps for 100 points. There are also a bunch of personal badges that you can earn with rewards attached, depending on the amount of steps you cover.

Get stats-happy

If you’re the kind of person who gets giddy looking at statistics and detailed number breakdowns, this app is for you. We know that there are some people out there who find genuine joy in watching numbers tick over and tracking information about their daily lives; and if that’s you, this app will be an absolute dream.

You can track your daily steps as you do them, watch the daily timer countdown as you walk, and check out a table of your steps activity for the past week. Head to your profile to check out your daily and weekly step averages, and how many steps you have done since downloading the App. Want to know your entire step history based on distance? Don’t worry, the Qantas Assure App can do that too. And, if you have an Apple Watch, you can have all the data right there on your wrist – plus, a bunch of extra challenges to have a go at!

Look, we all know that one of the biggest perks of exercising is casually mentioning the lengthy run you did this morning to your colleague, or boasting to your mate about #legday at the pub after work. With the Qantas Assure App, you can forget about the subtle boast; get your friends involved and start competing.

Set up a group challenge and get walking; start a 3-day challenge, and whoever has done the most steps by the end of the 72 hours wins a bunch of points (and the glory). You can earn up to 80 points in one go just by walking to work and being determined to beat your friends. So get your colleagues involved, and tell your mates it’s “game on”.

Cover your health

When you take out Qantas Assure Health Insurance, you can earn up to 15,000 Qantas Points each year using the Qantas Assure App. That sweet 15k can get you a whole bunch of stuff from the online Qantas Store, or be saved up towards that big Europe trip next year. So, once you’ve racked up those points by challenging your friends, exercising every day, or just walking around the supermarket a lot, how do you access them?

To earn Qantas Points in the App, you need to take out or be covered by an Eligible Qantas Assure Product – but don’t worry, you can accrue locked Qantas Points in the meantime and when you join Qantas Assure health insurance up to 3,000 locked Qantas Points will be unlocked!

You can also earn up to 50,000 bonus Qantas Points just by signing up. It’s pretty much a win-win; you get to make sure your health is covered, challenge yourself to move more, and earn Qantas Points as you go.
