Inspired by G AdventuresG Adventures is an adventure travel pioneer offering the planet's most awe-inspiring selection of affordable small-group tours, safaris, and expeditions.
During my first visit to Thailand with G Adventures, I was determined to go beyond the clichés and uncover a more authentic side of the country. Instead of visiting the crowded beaches of Phuket and full moon parties, I headed up to discover the secrets of Northern Thailand.
Starting in Chiang Mai, I spent the next few days trekking through the countryside, staying in local villages along the way. By escaping the city and staying with locals, I was really able to delve into the local culture and gain an authentic experience of Thailand – one that I will never forget. Here are some of the sights I captured along the way.
Exploring the temples around Chiang Mai, I found this gold buddha at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
